Our monthly meetings

On the first Thursday of each month (except July and August or when the date has to change) we meet at 1.30pm in the Mercure Caledonian Hotel on Union Terrace, when we usually have a visiting speaker. These meetings aim to bring members together and publicise the activities of the groups, giving members a sense of fellowship in the u3a.

Prospective members may attend one monthly meeting to find out more about us and our activities before committing to membership. Please mention at the check-in desk that this is your first visit and a committee member will make you welcome and introduce you to other members.

At the start of the meeting we have any news and intimations involving our local group or the u3a in general. You can read the announcements made at recent meetings. Our invited speaker then presents the talk, often illustrated, and takes questions. Afterwards we have a chance to meet friends, or make new ones, over a cup of tea or coffee.

Each year we try to engage speakers whose subjects we hope will interest our members. These have included items of local interest, both historical and geographical, along with topics covering the arts. We are always happy to have suggestions from members. You can send these to the speaker organiser so please do let us know of any requests.

Attendance at the monthly meetings costs £3.00. For those who wish to have refreshments, there is an additional charge of £3.00. The meetings start promptly at 1.30pm, so please come in plenty of time to "check in", pay, and be seated.
