Book Group 1 is for people who want to foster their curiosity. It’s a group for those who enjoy discovering and discussing books with other readers.
The group is member-led. Each member has the opportunity to select a book for discussion. Individuals introduce their choice and after a short summary of the book and its author(s), group members exchange and share their views. A ‘cuppa’ gently brings our discussion to a close.
Our members' book selections for session 2025/26 include:
- James by Percival Everett
- Orbital by Samantha Harvey
- Our Souls at Night by Kent Haruf
- The Bridges of Madison County by Robert James Waller
- Passing by Nella Larsen
- The Road by Cormac McCarthy
- Yellowface by R F Kuang
- The Summer Book by Tove Jansson
The group is a way to meet other book lovers, read some great books, gain new perspectives and have some memorable conversations.
