Aberdeen

Welcome to Aberdeen u3a

Joining your local u3a is a great way to find and develop new interests and make friends in a relaxed environment.

Aberdeen u3a provides educational, recreational and social activities for retired or semi-retired people in Aberdeen and the Shire who wish to pursue interests old and new and to meet new friends. Membership is open to everyone who is not working full-time, and new members are very welcome.

All our activities are led by unpaid volunteers who encourage all members to participate in whatever way they can. No qualifications are required and none are given. Please explore our website to see more about the range of activities we provide.

  • We hold monthly speaker meetings in the Mercure Caledonian Hotel on Union Terrace, and the programme of talks is on our Events page.
  • Aberdeen u3a also offers interest groups in a wide range of subjects. Full details of these are on our Groups page.
  • For information about membership of Aberdeen u3a, please see our Membership page.
  • Members receive annual newsletters each August and updates are sent to members throughout the year.

Aberdeen U3A was founded in 2001 and we currently have almost 200 members. It is an unincorporated members association, a registered Scottish charity (charity number SC031940), a member of the Third Age Trust and a member of the u3a in Scotland. We are part of a world-wide organisation, and in the UK there are some 400,000 people in over 1,000 local u3as.
